Alma Ata University (UAA) received CECF Official Visit held by the CECF Program Manager for South East Asia, MacKenzie Bills on February 20th, 2019. During the visit, MacKenzie together with the AAU President, Prof. Dr. H. Hamam Hadi, MS., Sc.D., Sp.GK and the top managements reviewed the MOU between UAA and CECF which has been going on since 2017 to initiate a number of programs that will be implemented this year as a follow-up to the cooperation agreement.
Internship program for students and exchange of religious leaders, especially women leaders affiliated with AAU, were agreed to be the two main agendas of the collaboration activities this year. The student internship program enables UAA students to gain experience by doing internship in the USA for a certain period of time to add important international insights in supporting the university’s tagline to be The Globe Inspiring University. Meanwhile, the religious leader exchange program affiliated with UAA allows religious leaders affiliated with AAU to be able to see Muslim life in America. Instead of being able to provide experience to the participants, both programs embodied one of the university’s vision to contribute to the global civilization development as stated in the University vision.
Delivering CECF Presidents’ speech, Mckenzie believes that Indonesia as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world has a central role in building the image of the true-life of Muslims as Indonesia which is peaceful, energetic and look forward to advancing their knowledge everyday. MacKenzie believes that the American people and the world must look more objectively to what the media reports about terrorism that occurs in parts of the world which is said to be done by Muslims. Vile actions such as terror are not Islamic teachings at all and should not be affiliated with Muslim identity.
Therefore, CECF looks forward to bring more American and European students to learn about the lives of Muslims in Indonesia which is the shiny picture of Muslims society and to do their best to be good Muslims. On the contrary, UAA representatives as representatives of Muslims in Indonesia can carry out the same mission by following not only the internship but also the woman leadership exchange programs to America initiated by UAA with CECF.
