Alma Ata University (UAA) Yogyakarta and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) have officially established a strong partnership, aiming to become leading institutions in global Islamic education. In an enthusiastic meeting, the delegation from UAA, led by Rector Prof. Hamam Hadi, MS., Sc.D., Sp.G.K., along with other key officials, was warmly welcomed by the IIUM team, headed by Prof. Dr. Akmal Huzairi Abd. Rahman.
The agreement between the two universities outlines various forms of cooperation, including student exchanges and accommodation facilities provided by IIUM for UAA students. This decision marks a significant step in the journey towards excellence in global Islamic education. With IIUM’s 40 years of experience and a diverse student body representing 72 countries, combined with UAA’s vision of integrating Islamic values into scientific knowledge, this collaboration is expected to yield substantial positive impacts for both institutions.
Although UAA is only a decade old, it has already secured 18th place in the uniRank listing of top Islamic universities. Meanwhile, IIUM was recently ranked as one of the Top Islamic Universities and Colleges in the world for 2024, securing second place behind Egypt’s Al-Azhar University. Through this partnership, UAA hopes to move closer to its goal of becoming “The Globe Inspiring University.”
This collaboration not only benefits both universities but also contributes to the advancement of Islamic education on a global scale.
